FEAR “Speaking In A Crowd”

I recently had a stroke and went back as a toddler in my speech and grammar. I am still embarrassed by it. I still twist my words and among other things. But I'm the process of healing. So as the DMA Convention comes I'm so fearful of getting in front of a crowd to speak now.

God dropped in my spirit about Moses.

Moses had a physical handicap in speaking or at least a fear of speaking to a group. Thus, Yahweh appointed Aaron to be the spokesman for Moses. “I am not eloquent,” Moses told God at the burning bush. “I never have been. So I think you have asked the wrong man. For you see, I am heavy of mouth and heavy of tongue ” (Exod. 4:10, my translation).

Acts 7: 22 in the King James Version is part of a quote of Stephen in regard to Moses. It reads as follows: "And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds." In the New Century Version, it reads as follows: "The Egyptians taught Moses everything they knew, and he was a powerful man in what he said and did."

In this verse, it speaks of Moses as being a highly educated man, one who could work and speak well. Let's look at Exodus 31:18 The tablets of the Law obtained on Mount Sinai were written in the North Semitic alphabet. Therefore, not only was he highly educated, but he also was able to speak well.

I ask God why did he show me this. He said

“Daughter if I can use Moses I can use you. Even with a speech impediment. I don't choose people for their ability, education, etc. I choose people who are abused, the rejected, the misunderstood, and those that have been cast out.”

Now think of Moses in his situation. Was it that Moses stuttered and feared to speak to anyone publicly or did he have a problem in being thrust into a language environment that he did not know? But Moses had to trust God and stand on his faith! We as the Chosen Ones have to get over the fear of the crowd and people. So what if you can't pronunciate a word or don't preach like Juanita Bynum or Joel Osteen.

“Consider your calling, sisters, and brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world . . . God chose what is weak in the world . . . God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not . . . so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

And because of him, you are in Christ Jesus” (1 Corinthians 1:26–30, ESV).

Why did God choose me?

He chose you to demonstrate His character. He chose you that you may know Him and love Him. He chose you because He is love (1 John 4:8), He is gracious, He is merciful, and He has a glorious plan for you and me.
